Odyssey Day School Reviews

My two children have gone to Odyssey from preschool (younger) and kindergarten (older) through 7th grade (younger) and 8th grade (older). This is definitely a quality school! Even though the classes don't always seem as structured as the public schools, the information is there and the learning happens. My older son applied to three prep schools for high school, and was accepted at all three. This speaks very highly of the preparation that he received at Odyssey. And I love the informal, intimate atmosphere. Every teacher in the school knows my kids, and the students all know each other as well. It's one big happy family!

My daughter has attended Odyssey for two years now. I could not have found a better school for her to attend. Education is above & beyond with many additional extra options for the children from Spanish, Theater, Music, Insturmental to many educational field trips & small classes. You know the saying 'You get what you pay for?' At Odyssey you can expect just that. Students don't have one teacher for subjects they have several all specializing in that catagory. My child truely benefits from attending this school. Offers educational classes for Infant, Toddler, PreK, K, 1-8th grade a major plus for the students no change up of schools until High School the way Educaton should be. The students are encouraged to exceed & excel in all areas. Head of School making changes that clearly Upgrade the childrens edcuation. Students & Parents have a say here. Doesn't your child deserve the best?

Odyssey is a find. It is a small, Independent school with a positive, proactive community spirit. The academic curriculum is competitive, yet the students are encouraged to be critical thinkers. I highly recommend this school for quality elementary education.

My son has had a fabulous experience at Odyssey for the past four years. There is a new Head of School who seems to be taking the school to the next level. Things are feeling much more organized and the leadership of the school feels strong and stable. I could not recommend the school more highly. And compared to other private schools, it's a bargain!

My two sons have attended this school for one year. I chose not to continue their enrollment because I found it to be much more of a day camp type atmosphere than an educational center. I do not understand how they expect the children to learn to compete in todays world without giving them more structured learning tools. Not recommended.

My son has attended Odyssey since preschool. He is now in the fifth grade. The small class size, nurturing environment, themed-based curriculum and respect for students' ideas has helped him to grow into a confident and caring young man. The field trip experiences coupled with the availability of music, art, PE and foreign language adds to the well-rounded education he has received.

My daughters recently visited Odyssey Day School for the annual Science Fair and Ice Cream Social. They are both proud to be Odyssey alums! The supportive community atmosphere helped make them the confident 'make a difference' girls they are today. At Odyssey they were encouraged to pursue their interests and were not unnecessarily burdened with standardized tests. Hands-on experiential learning always kept them motivated and involved. The multi-grade groupings made it possible for them to experience being academic leaders from a very young age. The arts were especially strong including, band, chorus, art, and drama. My girls, being athletic, also enjoyed the optional ski trips and mountain hikes. I great place to grow!

A rare find! We have three children currently in the school and are very happy with the experience on many dimensions. Academically, I feel the older boys are thriving and are excited about learning. They have the opportunity to interact with the older children, who are great role models. The youngest is in the toddler room, and the teachers there have been exceptional. They are great partners in her development and the toddler room is a happy and comfortable environment. Socially the school has an active parent community. Both parents and teachers are very down to earth and committed to the school. I like being in a place where most of the teachers know my kids, whether they have had them as students or not. They also have a flexible summer program, which is nice for working parents.

Odyssey Day School offers a wonderful academic experience for students. The teachers are well educated, nurturing, and offer a variety of learning styles to students. The school offers a hands on approach to learning versus a textbook approach. Specialists include Art, Spanish, Music, Gym, and Special Interest Workshops. Field trips tie in with many areas of the curriculum. There are many opportunities for parent involvement including an Odyssey Parent Association group. Overall I am very pleased with the school.

The mission of the school seemed good, and perhaps other grades/teachers at this school offer a better experience, but we were very disappointed. It seemed more like a day camp than a school. The school has lots of field trips, which are often last-minute, poorly supervised and not integrated into classroom learning. There are few textbooks and little time for structured learning. My child's class rarely read a textbook, but played trivia games about history, geography and science knowledge. When it came time for academics, my child's teacher didn't have very much have time for the students, which was surprising given the small class size.

My two kids are having a wonderful experience at Odyssey in their toddler and preschool years. Well staffed with caring, talented and interesting people. Accepting, liberal, independent, DIY sort of spirit.
