People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Instead, they should turn the space into a posh coffee shop replete with Terroir drip coffee, gourmet sandwiches and tasty baked goods.
Sip Café, a recently opened coffee and lunch hot spot on the right corner of Post Office Square park in the Financial District, has taken over the greenhouse-style structure formerly occupied by Z-Square and the Milk Street Cafe.
The space alone, which boasts an upscale contemporary vibe and a killer patio area adjacent to the sculpture garden in Post Office Square’s Norman B. Levanthal park, is worthy of a first visit, especially during Boston’s warmer months when the grass is covered with locals either soaking up the sun or enjoying a summertime jazz concert.
However, it’s the coffee and food that keep the Financial District regulars coming back for more. In fact, owner Jared Mancini recently opened the café for Saturday brunch (from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.) with fare that includes crepes, omelettes and salads.
In addition to their barista-prepared beverages, Sip Café is known for their creative sandwiches, like their turkey and green apple concoction with goat cheese that's served on seven-grain bread.
HelloMetro Tip: In the past, Post Office Square became a ghost town of sorts after 6 p.m. and on Saturdays when the Financial District suits left in droves. Thanks to the gentrified Post Office Square park, locals are taking advantage of the green space after work. Also, the view from the patio area is relaxing and a nice respite from the generally hectic South Station area.
