Mr. Garland grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts and moved to Burlington in 1964 with his wife, Barbara, where they raised their three children.   He has always been interested in fine arts and since his retirement from Polaroid Corp. has pursued his passion for painting.

George worked as a Technical Illustrator for several high-tech companies in the Boston area, eventually holding a position as Art Director.  For several years he had his own company, Garland Graphics, Inc., which provided commercial art design, technical illustrations and printing for government contractors and private corporations.  His experience has prepared him for his current efforts in painting landscape, seascapes, and urban settings. 

Mr. Garland has worked in many media including air brush, watercolor, oil, silk screen and pen and ink.   His current concentration is in acrylics.

Mr. Garland’s art education began in high school and continued at Wentworth Institute. He studied for two years at the Tringale Art Studio in Woburn, MA and is currently studying with renowned marine and landscape artist Maris Platais.
