Edward Blair, owner, UNPROFESSIONAL/HOSTILE I was left in tears! My boyfriend gave me a SpaWish gift certificate for my birthday. I could have redeemed it at any of the many area spas but chose 30 Newbury b/c the owner, Edward Blair, assured me that both a massage and laser hair removal treatment were covered with the certificate. Not true. I had to pay for the laser hair removal on my credit card. The staff was very apologetic and said they would have the owner call me about the inconvenience. Imagine my surprise when I received a call from the owner, Edward Blair, not to apologize, but to scream at me. He was very defensive and accused me of putting words into his mouth. He was screaming about being in the business for over 20 years (still not sure what his point was there) and then threatened me by screaming "you'll never get another appointment in this industry anywhere in this city again". Still not sure what his tirade was all about. I merely set out that day for a day of pampering. In fact, the irony is that I was a great customer. I paid for the laser hair removal, used my certificate for the massage, and tipped with massage therapist very well. I work as a nurse and am skilled at therapeutic communications when interacting with irrational patients but Edward Blair's outburst surpassed irrational and borders pathological.
