Kelly’s Roast Beef: Revere Beach favorite rolls into Boston
Jun 8, 2010
Kelly’s Roast Beef, a family-owned restaurant that’s famous for its boardwalk favorites that first opened in Revere Beach in 1951, recently set up shop at the former location of Marty’s Liquors located at 1227 Commonwealth Ave.
Officially having opened its Allston addition in May 2010, the 5,000-square-foot location that seats 132 diners showcases a slew of black-and-white photos from Revere Beach’s golden era, an old-school homage that’s reminiscent of the Coney Island amusement era complete with an antique carousel horse and ‘50s-style sideshow murals.
The Boston hot spot is a throwback to 1950's carnival-esque nostalgia, finding its aesthetic inspiration from the haunts of Revere Beach’s past. Customers are given numbers when they order and a Kelly's employee delivers the fried goodness to your table car-hop style.
“We are proud to be a part of the Boston community and we’re thrilled to be opening smack in the center of our customer base, with students, business people and city residents,” says Manny Paula, CEO of Kelly’s Roast Beef. “For years our customers have been asking us to open in Boston, and now we can please them all, for dine-in, takeout and Kelly’s catering.”
Serving up sandwiches, lobster rolls, salads, fries, onion rings and roast beef for 60 years, Kelly’s Roast Beef first opened across from Revere Beach in the early 1950s and continues to operate there today. In addition to its Revere location, this homespun favorite also has restaurants in Danvers, Medford, Natick and Saugus.
